Missing Photoshop CS4 Goodies

If you’ve been using earlier versions of Photoshop, you may have noticed that Photoshop CS4 is missing a few things that have been around for quite a while. I ran into this a couple of days ago when I tried to use my Epson scanner with Photoshop. I went to the usual place, File > Import, but didn’t see my scanner or TWAIN import feature listed.

As it turns out, this was one of the many things that was not included in the Mac version of Photoshop CS4 release cycle. There are several other things that pertain to both platforms, such as Web Photo Gallery, Contact SheetII and Picture Package, and the legacy Extract filter. Just so you know, the web gallery, contact sheet, and picture package features are now in Bridge’s new Output module. However, many people prefer the way these features worked in previous versions of Photoshop. For example: to print a contact sheet it must be first saved as a PDF and then reopened into Photoshop.

Fortunately, it’s easy to have these features, along with several others, added to your version of Photoshop CS4. If you bought a CD version of PS CS4, check the Goodies folder for the extras. If you downloaded your copy of PS CS4, then use one of the following links to download the goodies and to see instructions for adding them to your system.
